Dates and Costs
Undergraduate Domestic Students
University Admission Centre (UAC) Applicants: A non-refundable $50 administration fee is charged by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for every audition/interview application in a different instrumental/vocal unit. For information about the fees and charges associated with UAC applications, please visit the UAC website.
Postgraduate and International Students
There is currently no audition charge for postgraduate and international students. However, Postgraduate applicants who are auditioning for Voice (Classical/Opera) who wishes to use the Accompanist from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for their audition will be required to pay $50 on the day of their audition.
Live auditions will be held during 23 November to 4 December (excluding weekends). Note: not all instruments are being auditioned throughout this period.
Applicants are expected to be available during the audition period. In the event that applicants are not available on their scheduled date and time, applicants should already have prepared a DVD for submission. Due to tight scheduling and the availability of panel members, times cannot often be changed.
Application Closing Date
On-time Applications to the Conservatorium for an audition/interview closes: 30 September 2015.
The Sydney Conservatorium of Music may not be able to accommodate late applications for auditions/interviews. Late requests for auditions/interviews may only be considered for applications submitted to UAC by 30 October. Audition/Interview Notification Date
Applicants will be notified of their audition date and time via the email provided on their audition application by mid-November. It is the applicant’s responsibility to check their email regularly and confirmed their acceptance date when received.
Submission of Materials
Contemporary Music Portfolios: Due 16 October for pre-screening. Successful applicants will be notified via email from 2 November as to whether they will proceed to the Interview round.
The following are due to the Faculty no later than 31 October:
- Interstate/Overseas applicants who elected to submit a DVD as their audition
- Composition Portfolios
- Musicology Essays
Please note that if the above materials are not received by the due dates, applicants will not be considered for an interview.
