About Music Education Public Lecture Series

About Music Education is a free public lecture series hosted by Music Education staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. The series is designed to spark collegial debate among the music education community, including primary, high school and tertiary music educators, pre-service (undergraduate or postgraduate) music educators, conductors of school and community ensembles, and practitioners in related fields such as preschool education or special needs education and music therapy.

Each semester we invite leading practitioners and researchers to provoke discussion with a short, “TED-style” 20-minute presentation on a topic of their choice. Because the series is as much about participation as learning, each of these presentations is followed by a chaired discussion or Q & A where all visitors are invited to participate in, and time afterwards for refreshments and a chance to explore ideas more informally.
