The Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney is delighted to announce the appointment of leading USA conductor Dr John Lynch as Associate Professor of Music and Artistic Director and Conductor of the Conservatorium’s Wind Symphony. In addition, Associate Professor Lynch will lead the post-graduate wind conducting program.
The highly acclaimed international conductor brings more than 25 years of teaching and performance experience to Australia’s premier tertiary music institution.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have attracted a conductor with the international experience and reputation that Dr Lynch brings to the Con. His expertise will be a great inspiration to staff and students and signals a new dawn in the Australian wind band movement,” said Dr Karl Kramer, Dean and Principal.
Formerly at the University of Georgia, Dr Lynch has led all aspects of the UGA’s comprehensive band and graduate degree wind conducting programs. In addition, he has led many ensembles throughout North America, South America, Europe, and Asia and has several recordings to his credit, including the Naxos label’s Wind Band Classics Series.
Dr Lynch joins the staff of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on 1 July 2014.
