Sydney Conservatorium of Music offers you the opportunity to attend a masterclass with acclaimed singer, Giovanni Tarasconi. You are invited to witness him working with talented students, workshopping techniques to perfect their craft in an ‘open lesson’ format.

Giovanni was born in Sassari, Italy. He moved to Milan in 1987 to attend Milan Polytechnic: He got his degree in Architecture in 1995 with a final project on Verdi’s “Otello” set design for La Scala theatre. Meanwhile he attended many acting master classes and pop singing classes and during his last year at University, he entered Milan “Civic School of Music” where he had his first classical singing classes. The following year he entered Milan Conservatorium where he  studied for two years.

Later on  he studied privately with M°Anatolij Goussev in Milan and after only three years he debuted his first role on stage. He has improved his technique studying with M° Gianni Mastino in Sassari, his actual vocal coach,  and at Belcanto Academy with Mirella Freni and Nicolaij Ghiaurov in Modena, Italy. He has also attended different master classes with M°Simone Alaimo and Bruno De Simone and Bianca Berini, among others.

He has had an international career as soloist around Italy and Spain and has worked as chorister in several productions at Rome Opera House, singing all repertoire from baroque to contemporary music and taking part to many first contemporary opera performances.  He has sung in many major opera houses as Teatro La Fenice in Venice (protagonist in Wolf Ferrari’s “I quarto Rusteghi”) and Palau De La Mùsica Catalana in Barcellona, and in many other minor ones in Messina, Sassari, Pamplona, Fermo, Trapani, Palermo, Padova, Savona, Spoleto, among others. He has had the chance to meet great conductors as Miquel Ortega, Stefano Ranzani, Ennio Morricone, Vladimir Spivakov, Riccardo Muti, Marc Tardue, Stephen Lord. He has worked shoulder to shoulder with many well-known singers as Cristina Barbieri, Bruno de Simone, Maria Costanza Nocentini, Sonia Ganassi, Roberto Scandiuzzi, Raffaella Angeletti, Chiara Taigi, Elena Zilio, Ines Salazar, Paoletta Marrocu and many others while becoming very close friend to some of them. During a Masterclass in Ischia organized by Walton Foundation, he has met his one and only reference as Italian diction and Pronunciation coach for singers, Corradina Caporello, PhD at Juilliard School of Music in New York.

He has started teaching Italian diction and pronunciation master classes at Cesena Conservatorium in 2006 and since then has regularly been an Italian coach for many non Italian native singers  in Rome. He has also worked in several TV and cinema movies and shorts as actor, acting in English and Italian. He works as Italian and English voice over for documentaries and radio and TV commercials.

He has also been a free lance massage therapist for many five stars Spas in Rome and Sardinia, having studied at Bali Bisa Massage School in Indonesia. He speaks fluent English and Spanish and has sung in German, Russian, French, English, Juish. Loves cooking, writing, meeting people from different countries and cultures, travelling, music and arts.
