Sydney Conservatorium of Music offers you the opportunity to attend a masterclass with acclaimed flautist, Andrew Macleod. You are invited to witness him working with talented students, workshopping techniques to perfect their craft in an ‘open lesson’ format.
Andrew Macleod has been Principal Piccolo of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra since 2003. Andrew commenced flute and piccolo study in Brisbane with Jeanette Manricks and later studied in England with Trevor Wye. Aside from the MSO, Andrew has also played with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Malaysian Philharmonic and the Australian World Orchestra.
In June 2013 Andrew gave the world premiere of Paul Stanhope’s Concerto for Piccolo with the MSO. The recording of the performance was released on the MSO LIVE label by the ABC, and in 2014 the album was nominated for an ARIA for Best Classical Album. Andrew teaches at the University of Melbourne and, with James Kortum, holds an annual retreat at Macedon, “The Complete Flute,” for flute students from around Australia.
