Sydney Conservatorium of Music offers you the opportunity to attend a masterclass with acclaimed pianist, Alan Bennett. You are invited to witness him working with talented students, workshopping techniques to perfect their craft in an ‘open lesson’ format.
Lyric tenor Alan Bennett has enjoyed a diverse career, performing extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe, in Central and South America, Australia and Asia, singing with prominent festivals and orchestras, as well as in recitals and opera. He has presented performances at such venues as Carnegie Hall (the main stage, Weill Recital Hall and the Zankel Hall), Wigmore Hall, the Berlin Schauspielhaus, the Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, Kumho Arts Hall and many others. An avid recitalist and chamber musician, he has performed with the Vermeer and Penderecki quartets and his recital partners have included the late Leonard Hokanson and Albert Tiu. In addition to numerous performances in the U.S. and Canada, his recital engagements have taken him to Brazil, Germany, Korea, Hong Kong and Australia. His recording credits encompass works of the medieval through contemporary periods, including premiers by Steve Reich and Arvo Pärt and he has recorded for Harmonia Mundi USA, Nonesuch, Telarc and Focus Records. He is currently Professor of Music and Head of Voice at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore.
